I have investigated which format out LG TV need to play TV form the USB contact.
This has puzzled many, as evidently the TV can play many formats, but it simply refuses other angry .

Format USB NTFS default sector size
Build video in MPG/HD format, 1920x1080 is OK. Do not run at too high bitrate.
Build audio in wav (or PCM) format using 48.000 samples/s and 16 bit accuracy.

Build the video in MKV container.
Put the MKV on the USB.
Plug in the USB into the TV.

More modern LG TV:s as well as corresponding models of other brands (Sony) now play most videos in most formats. MKV container is preferred.
